There’s plenty of overrated travel destinations out there that are often overcrowded. Most places are not even worth your time because they are being  over hyped. The point is, you don’t always have to choose popular destination to have a bigger and better adventure. Sometimes, you discover better adventure in a less-known place. Also, keep in mind that overtourism may cause a damage to the environment so if you visit the places most people visit it may do more harm than good.

The downsides of visiting popular destinations are many such as over crowd and expensive price. Therefore, it’s recommended to make your adventure in new and exciting travel destinations that are less-known for most people that they won’t find in average travel guide, such as:

Lombok, Indonesia

Lombok is one of the neighboring but less popular islands of Bali. However, it offers great adventure and is rich in distinctive culture to learn more about. Lombok has less crowd than Bali but just as perfect for a tropical holiday. This place is perfect for marine activities such as diving, snorkeling, and swimming. You can also just strolling around stunning beaches and relaxing. Other things to check out while you are in Lombok include beautiful waterfalls and magnificent volcanoes. 

Anguilla, Caribbean

Caribbean is a popular destination but you still can find a secluded place to relax at called Anguilla. This place is best to unwind and enjoy serenity. There is no local flights from the US and no port for cruise ships to pull into so it offers the best tranquility. This low-key island offers luxurious retreats set up along the beachfront you can rent as your safe haven for a few days. 

Herdade da Comporta, Portugal

This place is known as the new Croatia but without the beaches full of crowds. Herdade da Comporta is made up of few beach villages and comprises of seven hamlets. For accommodations, you can stay in one of few hotels to enjoy this quiet spot. 

Lofoten Island, Norway

Lofoten Island is surrounded by majestic mountains creating a beautiful frame of nature. The name may be hard to pronounce but the place itself is easy to love. It is one of the desert dunes you can explore while visiting Namibia. The country itself has the largest sand dunes in the world so exploring Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert will be a great travel experience you could ever have.
